Leah & Andrew

Newburgh Priory | Spring 2023

“Today I don’t just feel like a bride, I don’t just feel like a wife, I honestly feel complete”. Beautiful words by Leah, which is a glimpse of some of the wonderful things said on Leah & Andrews day! In April we had the privilege of capturing the magic at a York City wedding that not only felt amazing, but looked absolutely incredible to, we even had some lovely spring light (it definitely felt like summer). Watch their full film and read all about their day below.

For us the day started with two of our favourite things: a wander around capturing footage of a city waking up and letter reading. Read more about why we love this here.

Both Leah & Andrew spent their mornings getting ready for the big day in York city centre. For Leah & her bridal party this meant having gorgeous views of the minster while sipping on prosecco and getting pampered. For Andrew this meant that once they were all ready his groomsmen could join him in a short stroll to the church. We always LOVE to capture a walk to the church!

Vows were exchanged in a beautiful church surrounded by family and friends. The ceremony was a perfect blend of tradition and modern romance, and we couldn't help but get caught up in the joy radiating from these two lovebirds and their guests.

After the ceremony and as guests boarded a vintage bus to take them to the wedding reception we whisked the newly weds away for a wander around York city centre for a few moments together to enjoy that just-married feeling!

Then it was time to get ourselves to the historic Newburgh Priory for confetti! The ruins of the priory itself, with its timeless architecture, provided a perfect backdrop for the drinks reception. This is one of our favourite times of the day to film anyway, but the sunshine came out and shone on everyone as they mingled and it was glorious!

Inside the marquee, we were treated to a sensory feast. The marquee was adorned with elegant Italian and coffee-themed décor, transporting everyone to summer in Europe. From the coffee bean seating plan to piles of lemons reminiscent of an Italian market, we loved every detail.  One of our highlights of the whole day was the speeches. There wasn't a dry eye in the house when they were finished, the perfect blend of emotional and hilarious. The food was sensational, all topped off with a table heaving with desserts from Where The Ribbon Ends - heaven!

The picturesque setting extended beyond the ruins and beautifully dressed marquee, with a gorgeous sunset over the  lake. We couldn't pass up the opportunity to steal Leah & Andrew away for some intimate portraits around the serene lake. They had time to really take in the day and be just with each other.

As the night went on, the dance floor became the place to be. The music was brilliant and the dancefloor was packed! We definitely had a boogie too!

Charlotte’s favourite moment from this film: As Leah is almost ready there's a shot of her as a silhouette against the window and she looks so elegant!

Craig’s favourite moment from this film: The light on Leah's face at sunset by the lake
